Chamber Committees

2017 Committees

Agriculture Committee: Kindergarten Farm Tours, Town & Country BBQ, and other agriculture related events and projects.

Area Beautification Committee: Encourages and promotes programs, projects and campaigns to improve the attractiveness of Smyth County. Beautification Awards, county-wide clean up days, and Christmas Decorating Contests.

Education Committee: Promotes and develops programs that expand, enhance and improve education services available in Smyth County.  Projects include Student Government Day, Children First Award and Tom Burkett Scholarships.

Commercial & Industrial Support Committee: Provides business and industry support through events and activities, publishes various directories of Smyth County businesses. Business Appreciation Luncheon, quarterly Networking Breakfasts, Top Level complimentary invitations to Chamber events.  Assists with the Career Fair.

Legislative Committee: Keeps track of legislative issues, organizes events including the Legislative Breakfast and Meet the Candidates, and develops contacts with Town Councils and Board of Supervisors.

Membership Committee: Focuses on maintaining and increasing Chamber membership.  Promotes the Chamber Cash incentive program and ribbon cuttings at new businesses.  The Chamber President-Elect will serve on this committee and would encourage fundraising.

Smyth Enterprise Center: Promotes entrepreneurship and small business development through workshops, Youth Entrepreneurship Day, Career Fair, and other programs as needed.

Special Events, Tourism, and Community Action Committee: Promotes tourism as a business and industry and uses special events to encourage tourism and community involvement.
