5 Bridges Wellness Fair

On Friday May 20th, 2022 the Chamber of Commerce had an opportunity to set up at the 5 Bridges Wellness Fair sponsored by Mount Rogers Community Services.

Spring Clean Up Day 2022

The Chamber of Commerce of Smyth County hosted its annual Smyth Spring Clean Up Day on April 23, 2022. The clean ups were hosted in four locations across Smyth County; Marion’s Riverbend Park, Chilhowie Town Park, Saltville Playground & Helen Barbrow Trail, and Konnarock’s Blue Ridge Discovery Center .

Helen Barbrow

Helen Barbrow was born December 1, 1940 in Wytheville, VA but lived the vast majority of her life in Saltville. Mrs. Helen attended Emory and Henry College and after graduating became a teacher at Clifton Forge Elementary School.

Annabel Morris Buchanan

Annabel Morris Buchanan was born October 22, 1888 in Groesbeck, Texas. She was a talented musician and folklorist. Growing up, she was granted a scholarship to the Landon Conservatory in Dallas due to her talent and graduated with honors in 1906.

Evelyn Lawrence

Evelyn Lawrence was a woman of extreme impact and honor within the community. She was born November 13, 1915. She attended the Carnegie High School located in Marion and then went on to attend Gary High School in West Virginia.
