The Art Place

“The Art Place”
“Edna Bonham Love was a “Champion for the Arts” sharing her love and passion for the arts a d art education with young and old. In 1991 she opened “ The Art Place” in her hometown of Chilhowie, Virginia. Her desire was to provide art opportunities for all ages in the community in which she was raised; something that was not available when she was young. She met her mission by providing classes on many media, arranging shows that featured local and regional artists, setting up exhibits of community youth art and guest artist lectures and luncheons. Through her work many community members were encouraged to share their talents of wood carving, photography, ceramics, painting, weaving, quilting, glass blowing, stained glass work and other artistic skills.
The family of Edna Love with support of friends and area art lovers wishes to continue her mission in the newly renovated “ Art Place “ at 124 Lee Highway, Chilhowie, VA.”
The main gallery is the works of Edna Love Bonham Love and I must say she was a woman of many talents. Hearing some of the back stories from her daughter made the whole experience even more special. If you missed the open house last night you still have a chance to go this Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
