We are opening our doors for musicians to play along with other local musicians, learn new stuff, and network with other musicians and place to have fun. Starting October 5th and every Saturday of each month. We have limited chairs but musicians and the public are welcome to bring their own.

Live concerts are held monthly at The Lincoln Theatre in Marion, Virginia with shows videotaped for our award winning Television Series which can be seen on public television affiliates throughout the country. For more detailed show information, visit songofthemountains.org

Saturday, May 4, 2019 – “Kornfield Friends” celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Hee Haw Television Show! Featuring Buck Trent, Lulu Roman, Misty Rowe, and Jana Jae. Tickets are $40 reserved; $100 premium seating which includes meet & greet prior to show with the starts. Will include photo opportunities and autograph session. The reception will be at 5:30 pm at venue to be announced.

Volunteers are needed! Join the Smyth County Chamber of Commerce in bringing some holiday cheer to the residents of Francis Marion Manor. We will sing easy, traditional Christmas carols as a group. No singing experience, or registration needed! Just come to the Chamber office at 214 W Main St in Marion at 12:30 pm. We will run through a few carols together before traveling to Francis Marion and singing for the residents at 1:30 pm. We are also singing for Valley Health Care in Chilhowie on Wed, Dec 18 at 2:30 pm. (We will meet there at 2:00 pm). You can come to one or both events. We hope that you will join us!

Enjoy a bluegrass and old time jam in one of eight soundproof, classroom-sized jam rooms. Free admission. Concessions in the lobby. Donations accepted for the Henderson JAM (Junior Appalachian Musicians). Pickers wanted and welcome! A free hospitality room to all musicians. Call 706-4010 for more info.

Freedom Tabernacle presents their Annual Christmas Play! Doors open at 6:00 pm and the play starts at 7:00 pm. Travel back to 1895 this Christmas. When times are dark, Christ’s love shines brighter! When all hope seems lost, God is still working to turn sorrow into joy. Groups of 10 or more may reserve seating by calling 276-274-3688.

Returning this Christmas, the whole family will enjoy a unique retelling of Charles Dickens’ most classic and recognizable tale. John Hardy, a nationally known actor, writer, and director will present his one-man adaptation of A Christmas Carol. During the performance, Hardy portrays no less than 40 characters in such a seamless way that its easy to forget there’s only one person on stage!
