Smyth County received four awards at the fourth annual Celebrate Tourism Summit held in Wytheville, VA.  Friends of Southwest Virginia hosted the Southwest Virginia Tourism Awards Ceremony to celebrate the outstanding work within the tourism industry in Southwest Virginia.

Today was a great success at Older Americans Day! We appreciate everyone who came out and supported the event. Thank you to those who helped sponsor the event and volunteered.
We had a great turnout from members of the community! We hope to see you next year!

Easter 2022 – Pictures with the Easter Bunny

Our Easter Bunny Pictures was a very successful event. We had over 200 people visit the Bonham House on Saturday April 16, 2022. Thank You to everyone that came out and everyone that helped make the day happen! We can’t wait to do more things like this in the future!

Ribbon Cutting for Poe’s Pulled Pork

Here is a picture from The Ribbon Cutting for Poe’s Pulled Pork located at 1041 E Lee Hwy in the town of Chilhowie. We had a great turn out to Welcome Poe’s Pulled Pork our newest business to Smyth County. Showing their support ranged from the staff and friends of the Poe’s to members of our local government. From The Town of Chilhowie, Virginia, we had the Mayor Gary Heninger, Town Manager John Clark, and Police Chief Andrew Moss. Representing Smyth County, Virginia was County Administrator Shawn Utt, Kendra Hayden from Economic Development and Building Inspector Cleg Williams. Along with, Thatcher Stanley, Representing Congressman Morgan Griffith.
But the most important part of this post is the big question… Is the food any good?
Well here at the Chamber, we love to eat. So, after the ribbon cutting, we went inside and had lunch. I must say the food is amazing and prices are very reasonable! As for us at the Chamber, we definitely give Poe’s Pulled Pork 2 thumbs up! We cant wait to try the rest of the menu! (menu is pictured below)
