Smyth County Candidates Forum

Smyth County Candidates Forum
Tuesday, October 17, 2017 6:00 pm
The Lincoln Theatre Auditorium

Listen to Smyth County Candidates from the State, Board of Supervisors, and School Board discuss issues that are important to you. This event is FREE of charge to the community.

The format of the 2017 Candidates Forum will begin with the candidates for the Constitutional Offices followed by the candidates for the Board of Supervisors and School Board, respectively. The candidates will speak in the order of offices listed by the Smyth County Registrar’s Office and then alphabetically by last name. The moderator will review the format at the start of the event.

Due to the large number of candidates in this year’s election cycle, we will have each candidate limit his or her remarks to five minutes. There will be a timekeeper giving signals and the moderator will enforce the limit. Due to time constraints, there will not be a question and answer session and no questions will be allowed from the floor. Following the Forum, there will be a Meet and Greet session where candidates may choose to speak with audience members on a one-on-one basis.
